Some calfeeds already contain reminders set by the provider. Whether they reach you, however, is up to your calendar app: many – Google Calendar above all – ignore reminders from subscribed calendars entirely. So it is best to control alerts yourself. The most important paths:
iPhone & iPad
Calendar app → “Calendars” → info icon (i) next to the calfeed → toggle “Alerts” off or on. This silences notifications for exactly this calendar without changing the subscription.
Mac
When setting up the subscription, the “Remove: Alerts” (and attachments) checkboxes are enabled by default – any reminders contained in the calfeed never arrive in the first place. Afterwards you control this via right-click on the calendar → “Get Info” → “Ignore alerts”.
Google Calendar
- Google usually does not adopt reminders from subscribed calendars automatically – but at calendar.google.com you can create your own default notifications in the calfeed's settings (e.g. 1 hour before).
- That is also where you disable email notifications if Google sends you emails about events: calendar settings → notifications section → remove the email entries.
Outlook
Outlook uses its normal reminder settings for subscribed calendars. You can mute individual events via right-click; default reminders are controlled in the Outlook settings under “Calendar”.
calovo app (Android)
The calovo app itself never sends you notifications – reminders always come from your calendar app. Whether the reminders supplied by the provider are adopted at all is set per calendar: in the app tap ⋮ → “Edit” → toggle “Adopt reminders”.
The most reliable way: your own reminders
If you want to be reminded reliably, set your own default reminders for the calfeed in your calendar app – then it does not matter whether the app adopts the supplied ones.
Too many alerts?
If a calfeed with many events bothers you, you can simply hide it instead of unsubscribing – or disable alerts as described above.
